One time at the airport as we waited patiently, we watched people dash in front of us, knock down small children and push people out of wheelchairs to "rescue" a generic black suitcase that as it turns out wasn't the right one and would have ultimately come back around anyway...as it did...ten times. It is as if their luggage will circulate one time and if not grabbed immediately will vanish for eternity.
In conclusion, baggage carousels go around more than once.
