How Arrested Development has skewed the way I receive information...

On the radio this morning I heard a "feel good" story.

To summarize it was a story about a young boy whose brother has cerebral palsy.  The young boy was always out playing sports and having fun and felt bad that his brother could not participate.  He ended up writing a letter to the local news station asking if they could help him find a special type of jogging stroller that would let him run a 5k race with his brother.  He just wanted to find a stroller to borrow, and he offered to push other people in other 5ks in order to be able to use the stroller, because their single-schoolteacher mother couldn't afford to buy one.  Long story short, the news station bought the family a stroller.... happily ever after.

It was a nice story.  Touching really.  The only problem?  The boys name was Tobias.  So all I could picture the entire time was Tobias Funke covered in blue paint head to toe, wearing nothing but jean cutoffs, pushing Buster Bluth around in a stroller wearing his army fatigues holding a small stuffed seal with his claw hand.

Oh, Arrested Development, you have skewed my reality.

This YouTube video of Bat Dad

I particularly like how the wife seems very annoyed with Bat Dad's antics.

When you can't tell if it's politics or satire

I don't know a lot about politics.  I don't pretend to know a lot about politics.  I try to read just enough to be a notch above "completely oblivious".

But it's kinda funny when you're reading an article and you can't tell if its serious or a joke.

Case in point: http://edition.cnn.com/2013/09/25/politics/shutdown-showdown/?hpt=hp_t1

No you don't need to read it, it goes on to talk about Senator Cruz (R, Texas) started speaking at 2:40pm on Tuesday, and is still speaking this Wednesday morning.  Somehow it's technically not a filibuster because blah blah blah...

The part I found confusing was this:

"He also read from the Dr. Seuss children's classic "Green Eggs and Ham" to his daughters as the night wore on."

Haha, I get it... green eggs and... wait... why am I the only one laughing... did he... he really?  What?

So maybe that is some "political lingo" for creating jobs or reaching across the aisle or _________ (insert political catch phrase here), but if so, it was lost on me.

When you're driving at night and you think everyone's a cop

You know when your driving at night and every car that comes up behind you seems like they must be a cop?

So you just left the bar after you had one beer, you go to adjust the radio, look back at the road and notice you grazed the white line.  Coincidentally a car pulls out of a small side street behind you.

Rational thought process: "meh, that's not a cop"

Normal thought process: " oh my god, that's a cop.  I'm definitely getting pulled over...why did I drink so much! Wait...I only had one beer... Why can't I drive straight?...did someone drug me?...that's not a cop...what kind of cars do the cops in this town drive?... WHY CANT I DRIVE STRAIGHT?...crown Vic's? Chargers? Taurus's? Definitely Chargers, the headlights are round with amber on the inside... Or the outside?  Did I just miss my turn? I'm swerving. I was definitely drugged...did we just pass a cop? Oh my god he called for backup. I'm going to jail...decision time fight or flight... We can make it... What are you talking about?? WHO IS IN CHARGE HERE?! I AM FREAKIN OUT MAN!"

When people dive for their suitcase at baggage claim

One time at the airport as we waited patiently, we watched people dash in front of us, knock down small children and push people out of wheelchairs to "rescue" a generic black suitcase that as it turns out wasn't the right one and would have ultimately come back around anyway...as it did...ten times.  It is as if their luggage will circulate one time and if not grabbed immediately will vanish for eternity.

In conclusion, baggage carousels go around more than once.
